I think they have fixed that a bit by staggering when the polls are open. Ontario/Quebec (which is a lot of seats) now closes at the same time as the Praries and only a half hour before BC!

Considering that there are only 32 seats in the Maritimes and Newfoundland, I don't see much harm in reporting on those seats - especially since the Maritimes has the habit of not predicting the rest of the country (especially in close races like todays).

Do we have any GCers from the Maritimes? I can't recall any....
