Let me clarify.

Next week will be my last week at this job - one way or another. Why? Because it really really sucks.

I am going back to school in September. I have saved enough money that I have leeway of at LEAST a month before I must have a job again. If I can't find anything great I will apply at Barnes & Nobles or a department store, I don't care. All I know is that this present job is toooooo much drama (ask James, I have bitched and moaned to him a lot, lol).

This is one of the few times in my life where I can afford to leave a job that I don't like - I live at home and don't have many bills past my credit card bills (and I don't use my cards so I'm ok with those). I can NOT TAKE these people. I am the QUEEN of horrewndous jobs, mostly because in the past I have been operating from a position of need. I am now looking for what I want. So there is the big big difference I guess.

I don't care if I lose this job. I don't care if they won't give me a reference. I just want out and have to put up with it for one more week.

Countdown....

If you don't care, then do what you feel comfortable with. If I felt the way you did, I'd probably go with the "personal apt". Good for you to get out of a place like that! Good luck with your interview!

Be sure to let us know what you did and how it all turns out!

Ivy, just be careful how you leave the job - sometimes it's the burned bridges (personal references, employment verification (i.e. would she be re-hireable at the company)) that can be the ones missed most.

Handle it in a professional way, don't sink down to their level - you only come out smelling like a daisy (or Ivy for that matter, I guess!)

I agree.

Just tell em you got an appointment of a personal nature. Since you don't care what can they do?

It ain't like Terry Tate, the office linebacker, is gonna rush you outta nowhere.

Just give em the truth. I got an appointment. If they ask where, say with D. When they say D who, say DEEEEZZZZ NUTS. Then walk out.

Well, heck, at least they're SEARCHING and bringing up old threads, unlike too many members of GC who weren't schooled correctly. So many flame wars and utter lunacy could have been stopped if people would just simply do a search.

Agreed!

And I appreciate people giving the advice, even if it's a couple of years late, lol.

Naw, I don't blame you. I'm talking about some other threads, not this one.

You know I really don't remember, lol. I left that job really soon after I wrote that message though, so I probably went with "personal appointment".

I just blocked out all memories of that particular job *shudder*.

I think it is a good thread to resurrect (sp?) because a lot of people probably have to deal with that problem when job searching while they have a job. I know I've been thinking about what I will do when I actually get an interview(s). I think I'll be ok though because my manager is very cool and he knows this job is an entry-level stepping stone type thing that I can't and won't stay in forever.
