Ditto. Barnes & Noble had a crap ton of them just sitting out on one of the tables right as soon as youfirst came in to the store.

Friends have been telling me they've been walking into non-bookstores (Target, FRY'S???) and just walking out with it and no lines to be haggled with. I'm just mad because I think I paid way too much for it. Some placed listed it for $13.99!!!! Stupid Borders.

My mum picked my up for saturday morning around 11am, and just walked in and walked right out.
It was a Coles book store (they're owned by Chapters-Indigo, a major book store chain here). I don't know how much she paid for it, but it was marked at 20% off.

Yep
What better way to spend a five hour flight, plus an hour layover, and another approx. one hour flight, than by reading as much HP 6 as possible? (Plus, I want to wait a little while to read it, since I don't know if I'll get a chance to reread it anytime soon with school coming up again!)

I just finished last night. That book through me for so many twists and turns that not only did I cry through the last 2 chapters (since my grandmother's funeral, I don't handle death well), but as I hit the climax of the story, the hair on my arms were standing straight up. I finished 'round 4:30am, had a fitful sleep and at 9 this morning, I was still shaky. Excellent woman, positively brilliant. I haven't been so captivated by a book since...well, since Goblet of Fire actually. It's a bit annoying that things all of a sudden get REALLY good in the last 100 pages or so, but when it's over it's like the suspense was all worth it.
Some git on the radio slipped up and said who died on the air...there was dead silence for half a minute, then you could hear them whispering in the background ("I thought everyone knew about...what do we do?!?). Then, he said "Alright then!" and immediately turned on some music. It was hilarious, but I know there are hundreds of angry people out there who beat up their radios this morning, screaming "WHYTHEHELLDIDHETELLUSWHODIEDI'LLKILLHIM!!!!"

Okay, I didn't start reading the books until last summer. Mainly because I've never been one to immediately jump on the bandwagon. I'll do it (reading the books or seeing a movie) when I want too. Last summer I decided that I wanted too, after seeing PoA.
When PoA came out, my Entertainment Weekly interviewed the cast. Gary Oldman said in his interview that he was bummed because his charater dies in book five. I was so pissed because I had just decided to start reading the books (hadn't bought them yet though). I was soooo mad at him for spoiling the book for me. But then I was totally disappointed with the way Siruis died in the book. So disappointed.

That was not very nice of that DJ! And while we're on the subject...um, could we all please be careful about posting revealing information in this thread...that's what the spoiler thread is for. Some of us didn't get a chance to read the entire book the night we bought it, and I would've appreciated being able to look at what people posted in this thread without finding out what happens. I knew I should've stayed away from anything that mentioned Harry Potter...

Amen!
I think this thread should be reserved for book 7 speculation and any other non-HBP discussions.
I would still like to be able to read this thread. I have not ventured into the discussion thread yet because I have not finished reading the book.

EXACTLY! I didn't read the book the night I got it but spoilers were still here anyway.
On that note I have a non-HBP question:
I need a place/website/whatever where I can formulate trivia for children under the age of 13. Harry Potter Night at a local park is fast approaching and while the kids are getting "sorted," I'm supposed to be greeting them and maybe asking them trivia questions... but nothing too difficult.
And I need ideas for a costume... I don't know where I can find something cheap in the middle of July, but any ideas will help!

Even after the spoiler though - I think I'll definately read this one. I'll wait for my son to finish (it'll only take him a few days...).
|
OK - He's finished. Now I'll start reading it.

Try Party City or something like that. Maybe a costume warehouse? At the midnight release party, kids came in with FULL Hogwarts uniforms, I was so jealous of them!
