William Hung helps the Toronto Blue Jays get most fan and media interest this year

TORONTO -- American Idol reject William Hung butchered "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" during Sunday's game between the Blue Jays and Texas Rangers, much to the crowd's delight.
William Hung brought his own, um, unique style to "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" in Toronto.
Hung, best known for his hyperactive, tone-deaf rendition of Ricky Martin's "She Bangs," shrugged off a smattering of boos and belted out the baseball classic off-key during the seventh-inning stretch. Some in the SkyDome crowd of 22,225 egged him on; some joined in.

Hung's presence drew media usually indifferent to baseball, including Rolling Stone magazine. The team said more media credentials were issued Sunday than on Opening Day.

The Blue Jays initially tried to get Hung for Opening Day, but that conflicted with the release of his debut album, "Inspiration."

"I still am surprised," Hung said before the game. "I can't believe it."

Lol William Hung saves the day again.

He sang a couple songs at a pistons game at halftime and was booed, his schtick is pretty funny.

He's like the human pogo ball.

Does he realize that many people are laughing AT him? Ok so our laughing keeps making him money, but I think my dignity would be more important.
He needs to be banged off this planet.

 | I think he knows people are laughing at him. I also think he doesn't care. After his 15 minutes are up people will be like "William who??". I think his dignity will be fine because no one will remember him after his time is through.

Co-sign, but blame all the typie FOB Asians who support him.
I realize it's a tremendous honor in Asia to get on TV in some facet or another, but what you think is goofy, Americans think is stereotypical.

Guess people like Henry Lee (Watch Court TV), Starang and myself have to turn down the volume on these stereotypes...

 | there are many more who dispel these negative and ignorant stereotypes...but those people aren't shown on TV. people like hung are. it doesn't hurt my feelings or anything to that extent, but it does perpetuate the negative prejudice that asian people already endure.

*waiting for someone to say "starang is always so mad"*

The Asians who actually break them are too busy and have too much self respect than act like a moron on TV.
Don't worry, I'm going to be the second coming of Dan Patrick, not Bruce Lee.

			Starang is always so mad.
 J/k.

I hope I'm not wrong when I'm saying this but... are you saying that the public is exploiting him? I kinda think he's exploiting himself if he knows that people are laughing at him.

I also don't think he's "fulfilling" the Asian stereotype. I think he's fulfilling the "Hey I'm gona make an ass outa myself for a long time" type, or something like that. Yeah that made no sense but you get me? I'd be saying the same thing if it were some dumb Italian on stage making an ass outa himself. But then again people on TV and movies do the whole stereotypical Italian too. I feel ya on that cuz I can't stand a white person doin an Italian accent and part (and it doesn't bother me when a Hispanic or someone like Tony Shaloub do Italians cuz they're pretty close enough). Hmm... Im gona stop writing cuz I feel like Tom Earp and all my sentences are like making no sense.

 | he may not think he is, because being a foreign born student...he's not privy to race relations as well the damaging effect of stereotypes upon people.

this isn't really an issue of young asian americans really feeling unaccepted by other non-asians, it's more on the lines of young asian americans who are having an identity crisis and finding a balance between their racial heritage as well as american culture.

the majority of asians in the media represent 3 stereotypes...one of which hung is portraying. if this is the only outlet and character on TV who represents asian people, then this is a piss poor example of such and probably will contribute to a form of self-hatred for many young, impressionable asian americans.

He just fucked with an American tradition...

Mark my words, if I'm ever in Berekley (You're lucky we don't have a chapter there anymore), and I see that little bitch, two weeks in the can will be worth popping him in the mouth.

 | It's suprising to because in Toronto for the 7th inning stretch they don't normally sing 'Take me out to the Ballgame', normally it is the "OK Blue Jay" song, or at least it used to be.
