I just talked to my mom. They're having a memorial service in my hometown in honor of the WWII Memorial, and asked all the WWII vets in town to come. She said she was going since my uncle would be one of those honored. I had no idea he fought in WWII. I knew he'd been in the Navy, but I'd just assumed it was in peace time. Turns out he fought in both WWII and Korea.
