many of the things that are listed dont affect undergraduates.
I beg to disagree. Everything listed affects undergraduates, because in most cases they are the single largest active group of any GLO (with the possible exception of NHPC groups.) If we do not have active and viable collegiate chapters, we don't stay alive. Simple as that.

No argument on your #1. Badges are usually the responsibility of the initiate, as it is their badge.

It's wonderful that you are a member of a currently strong chapter with supportive and involved alumni. But, many chapters are not that lucky. The maintenance and growth of your own chapter AND your national/international good organization is every member's responsibility. All chapters must support themselves and their overall organization by financially ensuring a stable, strong and available support and training network throughout your GLO. Besides, what happens if one day your chapter needs these services? Involved local alumni are fantastic resources, but sometimes they are not current with governing policies or training methods.

Newsletters may not do anything for you, but what about your magazine? What about the other members of your chapter? They may enjoy reading what other local or regional chapters are doing to promote your brotherhood/sisterhood. These newsletters and magazines are economical ways to share what is going on throughout the entire organization and promotes fraternal unity. It's also a great way to get new ideas. If you don't personally care for them, then ask to be removed from any mailing list you are on as an individual member.

It costs money to run any organization. It costs to keep a GLO running, but it's not just GLOs. Masonic Temples, Junior Leagues, Friends of the Library, elementary school PTOs, High School band boosters, and even after-work softball leagues all have operating costs. It's part of being a member of whatever organization you choose to join.
