Sophomore year of college, my boyfriend and I were on a "break." I started casually dating someone else - the male version of me. We had EVERYTHING in common - like to a freaky degree... needless to say, he was amazing!
We go home for Christmas shortly after we start dating - I am in the same city as the ex, he is several states away. I didn't really know if he was that into me and the ex and I get back together.
Two years later (still with the ex/boyfriend), I'm talking to the male-me and he tells me that he was crazy about me, and still is.
Six months later, my boyfriend and I break up, but he has a new girlfriend by then.
I've always thought of him as the "one that got away." We just talked for the first time in the last two years. Hopefully I will see him again soon!
