I'm poppin' right now. I had to wash and starch the collar a few times, but it's great.

I did see one sorry joker wearing two tight IZOD ones today. Blue and white. Sometimes people try so so very hard.

i've been popping since '01 - it probably makes me a tool, but...

i don't so much do it to look cool or anything or b/c any girls are going to like it...it actually just feels cool so i don't care much if it looks cool...i'm too self-involved to care if other people think it looks cool

i like it...i pop, i wear aviators, and i listen to 80s revival music (Faint, Bravery, Franz, Futureheads)

Definitely popped is the way to go... some brands are better for it than others though. I find that my Burberry and Lacoste polos are too soft to properly hold a pop. Vineyard Vines and Polo work pretty well though, and I actually prefer the fit of them (yes the CHEAPER polos) over my more expensive ones.

Nothing makes me happier than wearing a white A-line skirt, a nice polo with the collar up, Rainbows, and some oversized white sunglasses. That's KY preppy for you.

I pop, but I'm into the whole "half popped" look. Basically pull on the shirt and however the collar falls, leave it be.

UKTriDelt...you miss the point. Popping the collar is only effective if the shirt is expensive.

Interestingly enough the whole point of popping the collar at a very subconscious level is the idea of conspicuous consumption. Wearing an expensive polo disheveled, or destroyed jeans is a sign of wealth. Essentially, you have enough money to buy jeans that a poorer person would have thrown out long ago b/c they were full of holes or faded or whatever, or you have enough money to spend a lot of money on a designer polo but wear it in a manner that isn't proper...b/c face it, if it ruins the shirt you can always go buy another one.

Also popping the collar draws attention to you since it's out of the ordinary, so people can see you spent a lot of money on your shirt if it has a crocodile or tiger or penguin or polo pony on it.

If you're popping a collar on a cheap non-logo-ized shirt, what youre saying is that you can't afford the high quality goods, but want to pretend that you are well off.

There was an early 80's movie that sort of showcased the prep lifestyle.

It had a great line as to what designers were authentic prep and which were not.

Two of the characters were at a clothing store. The cool prep guy was helping the clueless dude from the "other side of the tracks" with shirts.

The line went something like:

Looking at a Ralph Lauren Polo: "Preppy come lately"
Looking at a some sort of JC Penny rip off polo: "Preppy come NEVER"
Looks at the classic LaCoste Polo: "Preppy, forever"

Does any one know the name of this movie? It was very funny. I think it had Rob Lowe in it. Came out when I was in high school at the height of the preppy style of dressing.

The classic prep style has never really went out of style (as I sit here in my pink LaCoste, collar not popped today though)

I'm pretty certain that Polo and V.V. are quite a bit pricier than Le Tigre. Who said anything about popping collars on non-logoed polos??

I googled Class and the plot doesnt sound the same.

As I remember, the plot of this movie delt with a rich preppy college student who hires a street smart thug to impersonate him at school. Laughter ensues.

I have one thing to say about popped collars and it can be explained in this .link .

or for those of you who may need to copy and paste it is www.factualmaterial.com/douchebag.htm

quite amusing as far as pointing out how stupid most of these fads actually look.

Why don't you like Michigan?

I liked a popped collar every now and again--I detest the double popped collar, though. Unneccessary and tacky!
