fund raising
We've been thinking about ideas to raise money for our trip to Sacramento next fall. This semester, we sold Valentines Day gift baskets and we're selling cookbooks right now. Does anyone have another fundraiser that has really worked well in the past? Those plane tickets sure will be expensive!

We, the Chi chapter did a "fast fundraiser" as posted by Wendy Romanowski, that we did a raffle, $1 for one ticket and $5 for 6 tickets. It was fun and we extended it outside of the Ag School, which was a reason for it being a bigger hit than it would have been otherwise...

We started a college wide"Kiss the Pig" contest last year and it worked really well. We let it run for two weeks. First we asked professors to volunteer to be kissed. We posted notices around campus, on our website, and sent a college wide e-mail. Each member announced it in classes. We collected money during class and kept a jar in each department office. The students and staff could contribute in the office. We had notes availiable for them to fill out showing how much $ and who they wanted it to go toward. We kept udates on $ on our web page. We had the kissing during our annual "Dogs with the Dean" which is held during our "Land Grant Days". In two weeks we raised approximately $300.00 and it did not take much work at all. Everyone enjoyed it. Next year more professors have already said they would like to participate. We are getting our tax deductable information together too (a lot of professors pay on others so they don't have to kiss the pig). We are probably going to string it out to 3 or 4 weeks. Just a thought.

Hey Girls..
This past semester my mom made quilts and we raffled them off. And the great thing was that all we had to do was sell tickets and we made over $500. It was very easy and did not take much time at all. I hope it helps.

Being in the South- we have done bar-b-que plates as well as spaghetti plates. Along with that- we had local companies donate items for a raffle. With the purchase of a ticket- for $6 they were entered into a raffle. We made $600! Walmart offered to give a % based on how much money we made. And Kroger almost donated all the supplies!
