Becoming a memeber (new member process) and maintaining memebership can be a lot of hard work and a time commitment. Caring for a child is also such. And then classes still exist. Juggling responsiblities of raising a child, class work, sorority commitments and possible work can be overwhelming and may put a strain on your life. I think if a woman is fully understands the amount of time and effort that joining a sorority might take, has the time to do so, and the support of her family and friends then pursing a memebership in a sorority will be a positive thing. And one you will never forget.

As far as limitations with joining because you have a child, I'd sugguest checking specifically with the groups on your campus. Also, you are not the first to inquire about joining a sorority with having a child. You might check past post on Greek Chat by doing a search.

Unforunitly, I do believe some groups do restrict memebership to single, undergrades w/o children. I believe this was orginally put into place because once a SO or a child comes into the picture, they become a higher priority then the sorority and the sorority doesn't want pressure placed on memebers because their priorities have changed.

Good Luck with your desision.
