That sucks you can't even get into a game. 80,000 seat-stadium (90 for LSU and 105 for Tenn.) and they still don't let in all of their students, that's BS.
You can talk tailgating and loud stadiums in the SEC, but in professional world, my NFL team calls dibs on both of those. GO CHIEFS!!! I heard someone talking about Tiger Stadium being the loudest stadium ever, and then they said "Well, maybe Arrowhead". It may not be SEC (I couldn't help where I live), but it's all I got. And if you've never had KC Barbecue, you're missing out. It is EXTREMELY unique, and in a very good way.
I'd still like to hear more about Alabama, and expecially Alabama vs. Auburn. LIke I said before I'm thinking about going down there for a semester or two, and I'd really like the most laid back, "southern" school possible. The Ozarks are very very southern, so I wanna go someplace where I won't feel like a fish outta water.
I live in a place where people still distill shine (moonshine for all you yankees), the nearest McDonalds, Wal-Mart, and Movie is 25 miles away, and all of the women call you "babe" or "shug" or "hun" (I live in a big town now that I'm in college, but this is my hometown). Although I could do without some of the inconveniences, I think you get what I'm trying to say.

I have a question: Why on earth would you want to be drunk and shouting at the football field in a dress and heels, especially in the hot, humid 90 degree September sunshine? I mean, here at OU, you don't sit during football.
Why not be cute and comfortable? Wear khakis and a cute top in school colors?

Believe me, shug, (I'm from the Ozarks myself), you'll still feel like a fish out of water in the south!! My best friend went to LSU and he was so uncomfortable there he came home and went back to Mizzou! If you're a real hometown boy, why do you want to leave?

You were "sat" on fire? Oh my...that does seem harsh -- was it all because of grammatical errors?

I agree with UKDaisy. I have not always been made to feel "welcome" at away games even at Ole Miss. My experiences were not like being set on fire but they too were unwarranted. The point is that every team has a few jackass fans but to paint all of their fans that way is wrong. Although, you are entitled to your opinion.

I've never been to UA, but I LOVE Auburn! The campus is gorgeous, especially in the spring. By being in Auburn, you get the perks of a large university and the small town feel. The spirit of the people is amazing. There is no where else I'd want to be!!

I agree aopirose. LSU has a whole has some really great fans who are welcoming to the away team. Yes, LSU has some real idiots; but don't let them leave you with a bad taste for LSU. I am sorry to those of you that have been the brunt of the moronic fans "good time." But to lump the entire fan base into this category is just as wrong.

I was raised to go to Alabama...I had family that went there and all. I applied there & was accepted and I even went to Orientation there--had a class schedule, a dorm room, a roommate and everything. (I had a hard time deciding)...This was mainly because I'd been raised to go there my whole life...but when it came down to it...that is not where I wanted to go after I'd visited Ole Miss. Alabama was just not the place for me.
I still liked going there to visit my best friend, but I am glad that I ended up at Ole Miss. As far as a great college football game to go to The Iron Bowl is always a terrific game (even when it's not). I actually think there are many similarities between Ole Miss and Bama...both are very much run by trafition, both have excellent greek systems, and both are very much into student politics (though Ole Miss isn't run by "the machine.") The campus is pretty, etc. I think their football team is going to be better this year and in the coming year once they get over this whole probation thing (it's difficult to recruit when you're on probation and cannot attend a bowl game)... What do you want to know specificly? I didn't go to school there, but I know a lot about the school and the football tradition.

I don't know about anyone else here, but I don't sit during football either. I AM comfortable in heels and a dress. If you wore pants to a football game in the south you'd probably be even more hot.
There ain't nothin cute about khakis.

I, like hottytoddy, almost went to a different school. I was enrolled at Auburn and had a dorm room. The campus there is ok. But the school is about the only thing in the town. It looks like a trailer park in the middle of a cow pasture. Then, a few months before school started I went to U of AL to visit. It was love at first site. In my opinion Bama has the most beautiful campus. I'm so glad I came to Bama. I am reminded this every time I visit Auburn. There is no place like T'town.
Auburn has some beautiful buildings. But Bama's whole campus is full of beautiful buildings that look like they were taken right off a plantation.
Here are some sites that might help

Here are some of my favorites from Bama:
Bryant-Denny Stadium....a monment of silence please...
Gorgas library
Reese Phifer Hall
The President's Mansion
and Rose Administration
Here's a picture of the Quad located in the middle of campus

UKDaisy - Same here.
We've got an All SEC Alumni group here in the Bay Area. It's very friendly and we get together for various events during the year. Now, when everyone is playing each other, it is war. However, when an SEC team is going outside of the conference - and especially outside of the South - then we usually rally the troops and support each other.
Kind of like one big family with twelve kids. Y'all fight all the time, but as soon as some one says something about your kin, look out.

Auburn has the second best library in the nation, after Yale University.
And besides, who would want to go to a school that smells like a paper mill?
