Our formal is right before Christmas every year and we used to call it Christmas Formal. Since I graduated the girls have renamed it the Butterfly Ball.

We called our formal Sapphire Ball. I think most Kappa chapters call it this but I'm not sure.

Ours was the Fleur de Lis Ball, which gave us lots of options for graphics on the t-shirts and favors.

Formal and Semiformal. Any additional names depends on the theme (ex. APO: Trapped in Paradise Spring Formal 2000)

We just call our formal "formal" (original, I know) and it's held in the Spring, near the end of the year, generally the weekend after initiation.

Our Spring semi-formal is called "Beaux and Arrows". I didn't know other Pi Phi chapters did this.

Joint formals?

Who does joint formals with other sororities, and what do you call them?

I know Pi Phi and Kappa on many campuses have Monmouth Duo, Theta and Tri-Delt sometimes do Pansy Duo, etc....

Our bi-annual formal (the realy big one) is usually called Pink Rose Ball or Pink Rose for short. On the off years from Pink Rose it was usually called Spring Formal or named after the theme. My junior year we had a Maquerade Ball at the Montgomery Zoo. Our fall formal was usually just called New Member Formal in honor of all our new members.

I've also heard of Kappa and Theta doing a joint social/ formal called Kite & Key

My particular chapter has a Black and Gold Ball and a Beautillion Gala.

I have seen other chapters call theirs the Sphinx Ball and Pharaoh's Ball.
