CHECK THIS OUT!
At my school, this is the month for various "try-outs" (pep squad, cheerleader, etc.)
This morning, while I'm doing my "duty" with my students, I look out of the window. I see all the various advertisements. This one "advertisement" caught my eye. It read:
"JANE" is HAVINA  (this is what it says...this is not my typo)
PROM DATE TRY-OUT
WHEN: April 1 at Lunch
WHERE: Gym
MUST BE A JUNIOR OR SENIOR BOY
BRING 3 RECENT PICTURES
HAVE A JOB OR RICH BACKGROUND
Then there was a drawing of a simulated picture of a stick figure of a girl and an X where the guy would go. Then it says "this could be you".
This really had me LMAO! The things on these kids' minds.

Even though I think the "Kunta Kinte" crack is funny, your post made me think about this. It does smack of plantation imagery.

Naah, Kunta Jr. doesn't remind me of Alton. Alton had more of a square head, preppy vibe.
