Does anyone know where to find this type of modern stuff cheaper? There has to be something because they look really cool but I don't want to pay that price for them - specially since I'll probably want an older classic style in a few years.

Scandinavian furniture stores usually have modern stuff like that. It's not super-cheap, but a bit cheaper than what you posted.

Do you have any IKEA furniture stores around? They have similar stuff and it's cheap.

How does one find scandinavian furniture?

Chiasso is definitely cooler than Ikea...i'll look into that.

It's a chain of stores called Scandinavian. Can't find a website for them. There's a store in NOLA, though.

You can try CB2 , it tends to be contemporary and not too badly priced.

Is it actual furniture or houseware type stuff? I'm not looking for pretty martini glasses
Also since you're from Chicago, have you shopped at Merchandise mart for any of this stuff? I know they don't open up too often to the public but I'm wondering how expensive stores there are.

They actually do have furniture, it was too retro contemporary for our apartment, but lots of chrome, neon, funky designs and textures.

I've never actually been to any of the expos, like you said it's usually just for people in the trade, the actual stores are pretty much what you'd find at the mall.

Ooo! I really like the stuff at Eclipse Lifestlyes! I can't seem to find prices, though.

I love the look of contemporary furniture. I've been in a crazy search for a fainting couch, and have seen a few that I like, but none of them have quite fit what I am looking for.

Have you tried ebay, Rudey? I've seen some great stuff on there, but I refuse to buy anything online- it seems like it would become a habit I wouldn't be able to break!

Of course I looked on ebay and will continue looking. The problem is not too many people part with these types of items. The ones on ebay are often from the manufacturers themselves so it has several months of waiting while they make it. Then you pay the high shipping costs as well since some tend to not be in Chicago.

Hootie those look cool, except they're by you and not me
