SELLING THE RUSHEE ON PIKE!!!!!!!
since taking a job in sales i have quickly learned that everything in life revolves around sales ESPECIALLY RUSH.there are 4 steps in selling them on your chapter, and thus building to your pledge class.they are:
Attention-- you need to first get their attention.. whether it be fliers , tshirts, mouth to mouth... this MUST be done BEFORE RUSH WEEK. the best ive seen is getting a sorority to wear your shirts..
Interest-- this is what the events are for.. now that you have gotten their attention you must give them a reason to become INTERESTED in your chapter. this is why you should learn each rushee individually .. find out what is important to them, and thus show them the benefits that YOUR CHAPTER can offer them. SHOW THEM DONT JUST TELL THEM.... i could promise you all day that we have the best date parties tailgates grades athletics etc. but if i dont have proof, there will always be doubt.
DESIRE-- fact is everyone wants what they cant have.. -- if you have someone torn between you and another house tell them "your house probably isnt for them. I mean most people join our house because blam blam blam, Not that you would, but if youd rather rush a house that isnt as prestigious ... we'll understand, its not for everybody." Make it known that what you are offering is an opportunity for them to become you.. not an opportunity for you to simply have more numbers or more dues. You have to make them want what you're selling (your chapter) so bad that they dont want to even think about going to another one..
But heres the thing....... when you give them these benefits.. you have to be able to back them up.. promising someone something to get them to pledge and giving them something else will cause apathy.. which nearly killed my chapter once before...
ACTION-- Once you have their desire, you have to make it special.. we always voted on friday nights and gave out bids LATE in the night.. you have someone that desirous of becoming one with you, and they want it bad. the action of them signing the bid is done. itll take care of itself..
