(Do You Remember) Motown 45: Monday, May 17th

Justin Timberlake (news) and Lionel Richie (news) will host an ABC-TV special celebrating the hit singles of the legendary record label Motown this May. The working title of the special is Motown 45, and it will feature two hours of non-stop performances. The special will be taped at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on April 4.

From its beginnings in Detroit 45 years ago, Motown has become the symbol of R&B and soul music around the world. The talent lineup for the tribute show is still being created, but it will consist of a combination of legendary artists and today's hit makers. There will be no awards, tributes, or drawn out history lessons during the special--just music.

All proceeds from ticket sales to the event will be donated to the United Negro College Fund.

Ummmmmm, I know why Justin Timberlake is co-hosting (ratings-May sweeps) but

I'd wish Ly-nell (Lionel) and the Commodores would reunite. Let ya'lls pride slide!

I bet this won't touch Motown 25. Remember Mike performed "Billie Jean"? (ahhhhhhhh, the good ole days!)

During the holidays my dad was talking this!He is STILL really mad at Lionel for breaking up the Commodors... like lionel did something to him personally, lol.

Girlllllllll, that was serious when Lionel left. IF they reunite...get rid of the dude from England that sang on "Night Shift". He had the pointed sideburns.

One question, though... why a 45th anniversary? Why not 50th?

I just brought Thriller on CD because all last week everywhere I went I heard Pretty Young Thing (PYT). So when me and my friend went to target it was only $10.00, but the memories are priceless. Does anyone remember when they showed Thriller on the local news station? Does anyone remember where they were? I remember I was over to a friends house and we had a mini-party until the video came on and all I remember is when it ended, no one could top that. That video is so creative and still is today. Michael is one of a kind.

2) I know my mama STILL has a Beta and uses it to tape things, you can come watch it at her house.

3) I was walking on campus today and someone has a shrine to Lionel Richie up in their dorm window (I should take a picture, it is NUTTY considering the demographics of this campus).

4) I still have my Thriller album on 33 1/3 record, my poster of MJ in a white and yellow bow tie and sweater vest, AND a black satin purse with the Thriller cover on it.

Do I remember Motwon 25, how about I have the tape to that bad boy!!! I am sooo excited I remember when I was watching it as a little girl, I remember the Jackson 5 performing and Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk. It was awesome!!!!

That boy knows good and damn well he had cleared his calendar so he could host. He just got scared from the backlash of people being mad because he got through nipplegate unscathed.
