I went to high school at an American army school in Germany, very fun! There are some quality teachers that teach at these schools, for sure. Lots of my friends had teacher parents, and I also know some teachers at the elementary school -- they all love it!
Basically anywhere there's an Army/Air Force/Navy base abroad with families, there's a school, like in Germany, England, the Netherlands, Korea, Japan, Turkey, Spain, Italy, etc.
What I've heard of a lot of teachers doing is going to one place, staying like 3-5 years, and then transferring to somewhere else. When they transfer between places like this, their transportation and moving expenses are all paid for. (NICE benefit.) Also while living abroad, their rent is paid for, and they get supplemental money when the local exchange rate is bad. (Like right now, with the dollar doing really badly against the euro.)
Then there are teachers who've lived in the same place for the last 20 years or more and taught at the same school. Both moving around and staying put are possible.
It's a really nice deal for the teachers who do it -- and who wouldn't want to spend their summer breaks travelling around Europe???
