My advice to you is that you may want to get the information and then make your own Excel spreadsheet that your own chapter updates, then you wont have to rely on others to keep track of your people. Once you start using it for mailings and emailing, you'll start to get updates and you can tell HQ where your alumni are, not the other way around.

there is typically no charge to get the list from nationals, unless, however, you want them to print mailing labels - then they do charge for that, but it is fairly reasonable, especially if you don't have the means to print labels, etc...

The key is to be consistent in communicating - don't be sporadic - keep the information coming - it will pay off eventually. Just remember, most alums still have fond memories, but the daily challenges of life (family, job, finances, etc...) can be overwhelming - just because they don't reply or show up to events does NOT mean they don't care...
