Good Reading
Hey Sorors,
I have not been busy lately, and I wanted to do something that I haven't done in a long time--read a good book. I love novels like He Said/She Said and other African American novels.
If you all have read some exciting books lately, let me know!

I have to recommend "Whatever Happened to Daddy's Little Girl" by Jonetta Rose Barras. This book explores the impact of fatherlessness has on Black woman. This book is very deep! I would recommend any woman who grew up in a single parent household to read this book. I have had trouble getting through this book b/c it really causes you to reflect upon how you grew up and how this affects your personal relationships with men. I have to say again, very deep!

I just purchased 'Friends and Lovers' by Eric Jerome Dickey, and I can't wait until I have the time to sit down and read more!
A friend suggested it to me, and at first I was skeptical - but this book is good. I have read half in two days, and hopefully I will finish it tonight.
CrimsonTide4 - Should I have read sister sister first?? Do his books have recurrent characters (or whatever you call them) like that?

Yes he does have recurring characters but AFTER you read Friends and LOVERS, go back and read Sister Sister.
FYI, FRiends and Lovers is on its way to MOVIE LAND!!! I actually emailed EJD to tell him who should star in his movie!!! LOL
E. Lynn Harris is wonderful. It took me a while but I am going to get his new one today.
BEbe Moore Campbell is an absolute must. She has written YOUR BLUES AIN'T LIKE MINE, BROTHERS AND SISTERS and SINGING IN THE COMEBACK CHOIR.

CrimsonTide4 -
I am going to get "Sister, Sister" right after I finish "Friends and Lovers", which won't take me too long
When will this movie be hitting the theaters? Has production already started? I can't really think of any black male actors that would be good for the male roles.
By the way, I am not a member of any BGLO.

I started reading Eric Jerome Dickey's books approx a month ago (a friend suggested I read Sister, Sister). I have read three of his books within the last month. I enjoy his writing style. I am now in the process of reading Liar's Game.
Has anyone read Mothers & Sons? I beleive Eric Jerome Dickey collaborated with another author on this book.

i have three words to say...
E. Lynn Harris....
i believe he has five books out..
Invisible Life
And this too Shall Pass
If this world were mine
Just as I am
Abide with me
and the brand new one:
Not a day goes by
E. Lynn Harris' book deal with heterosexual and homosexual and even bisexuality. All i have to say is his books are the bomb.
