Les Miserables will always be my favorite - not only was it just damn good, it was the first date I had with my wife, and I was really worried she wouldn't get it since she's deaf, but she absolutely loved it (she was able to use a remote hearing aid amplifier so the sound was there enough for her).

Phantom of the Opera is good.

Chicago (Broadway) - was great - I met the cast coming out the back door, and even got a hug from Marilu Henner (YOW!!!!)

Never did like Cats - it was "ok" - just didn't really do anything for me.

Miss Saigon was great.

"Old-time" Musical favorite would be Fiddler, followed very closely by Sound of Music.

J&H

I saw this HBO special of J&H with David Hasselhoff...I have no idea where it was from but i watched it and was completely blown away by how fantastic he was. His voice is superb, I was really impressed. It's a great show, and if it's done right, such a thrill to watch! Here's a question for you all...which character would you be? Jekyll or Hyde?

KS 361 times i've dreamt of Janet(or Susan Sarandon rather) running around MY house in her bra and panties
If you ever go to L.A. I know of a RHPS theater where every night they show the movie and put on a theatrical show every weekend. I have a friend out there who actually played Dr. Frankenfurter for a few weeks.

My faves are definitely

Miss Saigon-cried so much...
Rent
Jekyll and Hyde- just saw this at the Maine State Music Theatre, and it was incredible! Todd Alan Johnson played Jekyll and Hyde and Kate Fisher played Emma and Amy Bodnar played Lucy!

I was simply amazed! In a couple of weeks i am going to go see Smokey Joe's Cafe.
Has anyone seen this?

Nat

I just finished a run w/ Smokey Joe's Cafe!!!
It was a really fun show, and I'm going to miss it!
If you like 50s rock & roll you'll LOVE IT. If it's cast well, you'll love it even if you don't like that type of music.

My favorite songs:
"Saved" (Act I finale)
"Teach Me How to Shimmy" (Act II)
"I Who Have Nothing" (Act II) *if this is done well it is the most amazing song....*

I hope you like it, it's a gem of a show!

Remembered this from the past and thought I'd bump it up because I saw a show in NY last week that bumped itself into my top three favorites.

"Wicked" if fantastic.

If you can, go see it.

Wow i am missing out on some good threads...Where do i begin. Lets just say i love musicals. And live ones are so much better then the movies.

Hmmm what are some of my favorites...

....

They all are but I love Bye Bye Birdie and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I was in the childrens chorus when it toured and came to san francisco in 93. That was super fun! I got paid for it and everything!

Not so big into Musical, but started to like it ...
Well, not really a musical thing, but we saw "Turandot" Opera when we visited Verona, Italy. It was awesome.

I guess I watched The Sounds of Music, and I liked it. Tee-hee, just want to share my experience ...

Chicago (I saw it both on Broadway and the movie)
Tommy (saw it on my 21st birthday)
Forbidden Broadway (spoofs the musicals)
Gypsy
Cabaret

I wish I did see Les Miz, but I didn't. That is one of my biggest regrets ever.

guys and dolls, definitely....was in it in high school, so it's a special thang with me.

sound of music is a classic favorite.

annie get your gun

crazy for you

42nd street

fiddler on the roof

and here's as good a place as any to announce that my very own sister got ado annie in oklahoma at the local theatre here! she's SO excited b/c she's always wanted to be a lead in a musical, and never got to be one. now she is, and i am so proud of her! i auditioned, but i am not a strong singer at all, so i am whoever vivian is in the chorus. she's gonna be fabulous, though, and i am proud of her! (even though i hate oklahoma!!!!)

I haven't seen many so I'll just have to say "The King & I" for now.

I think my all time favorite is "Jesus Christ Superstar." I have never seen it on stage, but I have the movie version and DVD of a BBC production of it. Favorite songs are anything that Judas sings, including "Heaven on their Minds" and "Superstar."

"Hair" is a VERY close second. "Easy to be Hard" is my favorite song.....I have spent many a night playing this song and applying it to whoever the heartbreaker of the moment was.
