Ok I have to put in a plug for Beach Music by Pat Conroy. This book is amazing! It spans generations in the book, and it's a great book if you need a good cry. It's one of my all time favorite books and I'd highly recommend it.

i've since finished mr. maybe, i also read shopaholic ties the knot and straight talking by jane green over thanksgiving week..
heres my take on the shopaholic books:
the first one was really cute, i read it in a couple of hours because i got so into it. the second one was cute too, but halfway through she just starts to get annoying with all her lies and stuff. by the third one its really just enough already. i finished it just to see how it ended but i can't say i really enjoyed the book because she got to be so annoying..
on the otherhand i absolutely loved straight talking.

I am currently reading The Nanny Diaries, and so far I am loving this book. Too bad I have all this work to do with school right now, so I have only read a couple of chapters but I am liking it so far.
It was between that and Straight Talking. I think I might read Mr. Maybe after the Nanny Diaries.

I read And Now You May Go by Vendela Vida. I normally love her stuff, and since the main character was a graduate student at Columbia, it was a curious read.
I just finished Fast Food Nation, Branded, and I've started in on Fat Land: How Americans Became the World's Fattest People. So depressing, but now I am so much smarter about what I eat.

I read Angels and Demons and it's an awesome book. I'll have to read the Da Vinci because it sounds really interesting.
I'm currently in the midst of reading two books. Nine Coaches Waiting and the classic Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. Bradbury is a unique writer and I was sometimes disturbed by his writings. I decided to read the book because it reminded me of Stephen King's Needful Things.
I also finished reading a book called Forbidden Pleasure. It's not like it sound though! I couldn't put the book down. The whole storyline wasn't what I had originally thought it to be.

Skipping Christmas is a great Grisham book that you can knock off in a day. Sooooooo funny! Perfect for this time of year.
Daughter loved Four Blonds.

I read Skipping Christmas, actually I bought the book on CD for some reason but I LOVED it anyway!
I have four blondes, but I cannot get into it. I don't know, sometimes it is hard for me to keep up with the storylines

i bought "four blondes" over summer and i couldnt get into it either... i didnt even finish it cause i thought it was so bad... That isnt like me... I always finish books or movies no matter how bad they are... It was rather disappointing considering it was from Candace Bushnell who wrote "sex and the city"...
Right now I'm reading "Flip-flopped" by Jill Smolinski... I'm only about 2 chapters in... but let me say it is funny... definately one of the funniest books i've read in a while...

I couldn't get into 4 Blondes either. I found it boring. I'm like you, I made myself finish it, I think, I can't remember.
I loved the Nannie Diaries. I learned so much about how to deal with kids, honestly.
I heart this thread. Sooo many good book ideas.
PS-Another great book for this time of the year is the Mary Higgins Clark book, Deck the Halls(?) and then there's the one she wrote with her daughter, Carol. Both are feel good, kinda tear jerkers.

I just picked up "Female Intelligence" and have only got through the prolouge (because of finals ) but one of the lines caught my attention: "If men could talk to women the way women talk to women, then the two sexes could coexist peacefully"

I'm currently reading The Street Lawyer by John Grisham.
This is basically about a lawyer who gives up his high paying lawyer job at a big law firm and works pro-bono to represent the homeless. I'm a lil more than halfway through the book eventhough I started it on Monday night, and I expect to finish it this weekend. It's been rather eye opening to the world of the homeless thus far. You can tell that Grisham did lots of research on this one and didnt just pull shit out of his ass. While it is a fiction book, there is lots of factual information in it about the homeless. I'm not even done but I highly recommend this book
