I agree. If you're still interested in joining a social sorority than I say pledge both. If you're worried about the work and stress load than ask the girls while you're attending COB events. Also, I had some close friends of mine pledge my house while at the same time pledging an academic sorority. It can be done. Just do what feels right for you.
