Unhappy R.I.P. Bro. Flakes and Aunt Nina Lee

Bro. Flakes was a deacon at my church in my hometown of Dallas. He was 93 years old and didn't look a day over 70. I've known him all of my life. My mother's father was killed when she was pregnant with me and my father's father passed when he was a young boy, so Bro. Flakes has always been that grandfather for me and my siblings. He would do so much for my family as well as the church family. He was known all over Dallas as "good people." We'll miss you Skipper.

My dad's oldest sister also passed. My aunt, Nina Lee was quite an amazing woman. She was valedictorian of her class at Solomon Melvin COle H.S. in Corpus Christi and attended Bishop College on a full scholarship, majoring in music. She also had starring roles in the Broadway productions of "Old Man River" and "The Helen Keller Story."

She had this presence about her that kinda scared me when i was younger but i grew to respect. she was the one who taught me not to touch the door of public restrooms because not everyone washes their hands. lol. i'll never forget that day too--it was at a mc donald's. she had told us that right before we saw one of the employees leave w/o washing her hands. this was the same chick who later asked if she could help us. my aunt said "NO, BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T WASH YOUR HANDS." that girl was so embarrassed...lol

she was the oldest of 8 and was my dad's first sister to pass. now, it's just my dad and 2 aunts (one is a soror). please be in prayer for them. we had the funeral in dallas, where she was living with her son and his wife (a bruh and soror) but she's being buried today in her hometown of Corpus Christi.
