Actually, don't ride the Feret Street bus. Feret isn't a good area, anyway. And the streetcar takes you down to Canal-cross the street, go down a couple of blocks, and you're in the Quarter. There are plans to revive the Canal Street line...not sure if it's going to happen anytime soon.
