Look in your bonds...under West Virginia, they list "Patsy Paugh." I promise that you've heard of her...but probably by her married name: PATSY RAMSEY.

Wink

I remember when my pledge class read the "Bonds" and our NMOC told us that Patsy Ramsey was an Alpha Xi. Of course we all had a little chuckle, but decided not to mention her during recruitment as one of our "most admired" sisters. Hahah. Sorry if I offended anyone, but I thought it was kind of humorous.

Lillian told us not the mention the Pastsy Ramsey thing during recruitment, but I did a couple times when the rushees just weren't all that talkative. Let me tell you that bringing her up did rejuvenate a conversation! Ssh. No one tell the ELCs.

We have one of your chapters at my university, and on their webpage they have a list of prominant AXiD's. Here's the link so you can check it out: http://www.unomaha.edu/~alphxide

There's also a chapter web site (sorry don't remember which one) that lists Nancy Kulp and Mary Decker Slaney as Alpha Xis.

Nancy Kulp ( Beverly Hillbillies Miss Jane) is a Pi Beta Phi

Don't know if Mary Deck Slaney (track star) is even in a sorority but her on line bio says she attended University of Colorado and we don't have a chapter there.

True!

Jen Schefft is an Alpha Xi Delta from Pi chapter at Ohio University. Her bio on ABC.com says: "In addition to her studies, she was an active member of a sorority, Alpha Xi Delta, where she developed keen social skills and a flair for communicating with a variety of audiences."

Don't know about Mary Decker ... that's reported in a few places, but I think it's a myth.

Carol Lawrence is an Alpha Xi Delta from Alpha Theta Northwestern University ... actress, singer, dancer, "General Hospital" and Maria in the original Broadway cast of Leonard Bernstein's "West Side Story". You may know her picture more than her name: http://www.carollawrenceonline.com/gallery/CarolL02.jpg

Verna Gibson, Gamma Beta/Marshall U, was the first woman to serve as President of a Fortune 500 company (The Limited)

Jan Davis, Gamma Eta/Georgia Tech, is a NASA astronaut with four successful space shuttle missions.

Karen Tumulty, Beta Alpha/U Texas, is Time Magazine's National Political Correspondent in Washington, D.C.

Deborah Price, Psi/Ohio State, is a member of Congress representing Ohio.

Mimi Blackburn Drew, Nu/U Washington, is a Rear Admiral for the United States Navy, Deputy Commander, Navy Personnel Command, in Millington, Tennessee, and Commander, Naval Reserve Readiness Command Mid-Atlantic.

Laurel Schaefer- Psi/Ohio State, Miss America 1972, and actress appearing in a recurring role on "Falcon Crest" and guest starring on "Matlock", "L.A. Law", "Quantum Leap", "Love Boat", "Three's Company", "Rockford Files". She now owns Schaefer Consultants, a personal imaging, career consulting and grant-writing enterprise.

Amanda Pennekamp, Newberry College, was first runner-up in the Miss USA 2004 pageant.

Kim Webster, Iota/West Virginia, actress (Ginger on West Wing)

Gail Kobe, Alpha Xi/UCLA, actress and producer of many shows (mainly serials), including Edge of Night, Texas and Bold and the Beautiful; executive producer for The Guiding Light.

Lord, I have a picture of me with her from Convention last year - and of course, my face is red, cause I started tearing up because we were running out of time before we had to be at our next breakout session and I thought I wasn't gonna get to talk to her...and I REALLY REALY wanted to meet her. I was an emotional wreck at convention...augh! And then....grrr....my scrapbook chair last year thought it would be funny to put that picture in the scrapbook. I look like a mess!

Hensons

There's a rumor going around that Jane Henson's husband Jim created Al Fuzzie and liked it so much that he created Fozzie bear for his own show. And that the original Kermit the frog was made from green curtains from an Alpha Xi house...

this all sounds a bit far fetched to me... can any one confirm or (more likely) deny?

Well, I'd always heard it was true...

But Wikipedia says the following about Kermit:

"The prototype Kermit was created from a green ladies' coat that Henson's mother had thrown in the trash can, and two ping-pong balls for eyes." That makes more sense. I always wondered how the Corp Bd at Maryland would have handled a member's boyfriend cutting up the sorority house curtains.
