You didnt actually think that your only best friends in the chapter would be brothers who came before you or ones that you were initated with, did you?

Many close friends in the chapter whom I connected with were both older and younger. Not to be a dick, but why are you so suprised by the idea of having a strong connection to someone whom you and your brothers chose as having simular values and ideals as yours?
