Loyola President resigns
I believe I have seen several postings from GCers who attend Loyola University New Orleans. Maybe they can shed some light on what is going on down there. I hear that the President of Loyola was forced to resign over allegations of misconduct. If I recall correctly, wasn't he a well regarded administrator who was supportive of the Greek system and was an undergraduate fraternity initiate himself? Is this on the level or does it sound really off the wall? I thought he was reckoned to be a good guy?

I'm the Loyola girl!
Yeah, Fr. Knoth is a Sig Ep. The Chicago diocese was given a complaint of sexual abuse when he was the principal of a Jesuit high school in the 80s. It's the only allegation ever filed against him, and it was deemed credible so he was removed from active ministry.
It's a shame. We really liked him. Most of us think it's crap, but...ya never know.

Wow, that is crazy news to me! I'm from New Orleans, born and raised, I just happened to have gone to Ole Miss for college and now I live here and work. Anyway, Loyola will be still be a great university, and plus going to school in New Orleans is awesome! I bet it is even better as a college student!

I agree with GPhiLlama. Allegations of this sort are unbelievable when it involves someone that you know. Fr. Knoth was the chaplain of one of my Carnival Krewes. I thought that he was pretty cool. However, something must be there for him to be removed.

A lot of people are taking it really hard. There were a lot of students that were close to him.
I just knew him in total passing, but he's a really nice guy.

re: Loyola
I think 2 of you are confused.....
One is talking about Loyola in Chicago, the other
about Loyola in New Orleans! (There are several
"Loyolas" out there!)

Actually, it sounds like the fellow in question was originally stationed at the Chicago diocese and then transferred (as it were) to Loyola-NOLA.

You got it. He was transferred from another college to Loyola-NOLA eight years ago.
