I won't even tell you the number of time I've been tear gassed and pepper gassed during "disturbances."

I have seen a number of instances which I truly believe were "Police Riots" particularly in communities where the officers don't always have the best training and attitudes -- but sometimes even in big cities with highly professional departments.

However, having said all of that, if there hadn't been a compelling reason, the cops wouldn't have been there in force in the first place. After all, they're sworn to protect citizens and property -- even burning matresses.

I think it speaks volumes for the campus spokespersons who pointed out that despite the location, this wasn't necessarly a Greek problem. Good for them.
