We have pictures of the pledge pins / badges and founding info etc in our books...
I used to do a "potty training" where I would list Phi Siggie fun facts and then also list one or two other orgs and about them. My fav was the "Syracuse Triad" issue

I know - I'm just saying at some smaller schools that have Theta Phi Alpha they often don't know from Kappa Alpha Theta. In other words, you guys are the one they know about.

33 Girl: You know us too well!
Nationally, Phi Sigma Kappa is known as Phi Sig, just like Phi Sigma Sigma! The only time we ever refer to ourselves as "Kappa", is in reference to the merger and whether a chapter was Phi Sigma Epsilon or Phi Sigma Kappa, and that's usually an internal thing.
In the Midwest, if you say Kappa, it means one of two organizations: Kappa Alpha Psi (NPHC), or Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Kappa here in Philly DEFINITELY means Kappa Alpha Psi! I don't even know if KKG has a chapter near philly...maybe william and mary or lehigh. but even that's not that close.
On another note, in the New Member book/planner that all NMs get from our international organization, there is a list of all NPC sororities, their founding dates, and something else maybe.

Oops I meant an honor society, not an honorary.

Funny, unless you just really look or see a Colored Badge,
these 3 Soroity Badges look very Similar:
DPE, SK, and Tri-Sigma. All Triangular.
Have only seen one in person, SSS!
How many of these Soroitys are on the same Campuses?

I totally understand your frustration with people not knowing that you are national. We've unfortunatly lost women because they didn't think AST was big enough nationally. Their loss, but it still is kinda frustrating.

And at a few schools in the Michigan/Wisconsin area Kappa could also mean Kappa Beta Gamma. At St. Norbert College we had Thetas (Theta Phi), Alphas (Alpha Sigma Chi), Kappas (Kappa Beta Gamma) and Deltas (Delta Kappa Phi which became Delta Phi Epsilon). Needless to say, until learning more about NPC groups well after graduation I had never heard of Kappa Kappa Gamma - or ANY of the NPHC groups!

On a solution front to this problem, during recruitment especially, make a large map of the United States and Canada, and put little purple or gold or both headed pins in each state/city where a campus exists with a D Phi E chapter. Yes, it will show that there are fewer chapters out west, but it will also show that we do in fact have a decent sized sorority with many chapters! I hope this helps a little.

Intresting idea to make a map out of it....the NM books that we get have a list of all the NPC's, founding date, and when they dot into NPC...I believe (it I remember right) it also has the pin....but it isn't required to learn them...As NME this semster I might make it reuired that they at least know the names of each NPC...maybe I will make them cehck out GC

We had all this in our manual also and believe me I have used it more than once while on GC! (Especially for colors and jewels and such) I think it's still included in our new membership program, but it's on a CD-rom instead of a handy dandy manual.
I'm not saying you should have to memorize the names of every GLO - but seeing as NPC is our "extended family" you should at least be familiar with who your "cousins" are.

I can name all 26 in alphabetical order in less than 5 minutes...

for last year's formal rush we made a map with all the schools that had AEPhi chapters - i think it really helps in showing the national scope of the organization.
