There are 2 sides and I'm sure the visiting team was subjected to unkind words, etc. If you read the paper yesterday, a coach from Destrehan confirmed that slurs were said when they played baseball against this same team in the spring. The Destrehan coach is white.
I don't care where they come from. The school where I am currently employed, the band was subject to slurs, etc on a parade route and began to fight. This was in the 80s. We have NOT participated in ANY parades in Metarie since. Even though this is 2003, many feel it is 1893. I'm sorry! IT AIN'T!
