family traditions

In my diamond sister "family," we had an alphie that was passed down to each "generation." The first diamond sister to pass it down had affixed her neophyte ribbon to the lion, and she gave it her diamond, who affixed her neophyte ribbon, and so on--- I am sure if I went back today, that poor alphie would be stuck full of pins!

Another diamond sister group had a tradition where they passed down a poem that had been etched into a wooden plaque, on the back, the diamond sister would sign it with the year of her alpha class and a little note to her diamond. Naturally, the space filled up, so now they are passing down the plaque as well as another wood gift, on which the back is full of notes and Pi Love!

Other traditions: In my chapter, on blue and white day, the older diamond sisters give the younger diamond sisters a framed poem about sisterhood that they may choose or pass down-- the theme is "My Wish For You"--- and you may select any poem or words about the diamond sister's hopes and dreams for her new sister. We read these aloud in our prides and display them proudly in our rooms.
