Homecoming Ideas: Service Projects
Hey guys,
Things have been kinda dead around here for a min. I know everyone is trying to get back into the habit of school/classes and getting their chapters together(trust me, I understand). I was wondering what would be some good service projects to do during "Homecoming"? I know that people want to party on Homecoming and take in the festivities, but you can also do service while having fun within your campus and community. Alright everyone, give me your best ideas!
"Example: Campus clean-up after Homecoming is over!"

Honestly, I think Homecoming is the WORST time to do chapter-sponsored projects.
However, it is the BEST time to be of service to your campus. If your school has opportunities for APO to assist in the campus-wide events, take them! Such as ushering at the pageant, working concessions, anything.....there are plenty of already-planned activities that need volunteers desparately.

That I can agree on, and basically that's what I was talking about. For example I can see a chapter helping with the Homecoming parade(lining up cars), or parking cars at the game!
Let me know something!!!!

Something for Homecoming that we could do is sponsor a party, but you know that we are limited in funds right now. I think that we should make gifts to give to our chapter alums as they come back to the university and I also think that it would be a great idea to help out with the Homecoming Parade. Being that we have a Boy/Girl Scout Troupe let's get together and take them to the Homecoming Game.

Omega Mu always helped with the homecoming parade - lining up floats and such - and then we got to ride in the double decker bus from our sister city Clarion, Iowa (we were in Clarion, PA) at the end of the parade. It was fun and you got to see the whole parade from the beginning, rather than having to elbow people for a spot along the street. Plus we got to have bullhorns, LOL. Homecoming/autumn leaf festival is a HUGE HUGE deal on the campus & community so it built a lot of goodwill that we were willing to work while everyone else was playing.
We also used to make the float for the homecoming court to ride on, but it got to be too much of a pain, and the court now rides in convertibles.
