I must agree with you on your last two points. I have a very limited knowledge base to rationally provide any kind of opinion on the instances of hazing. However, I do know that "pledging", "MIP" or whatever it is called will not be the way it was back in the old days "80's early 90's." I also agree that a more stringent process will discourage those who are only looking for an organization to join and letters to wear. However, let us not blame the current intake system for the disrespectful interestees but blame their whole upbringing. Why would one disrespect thier peers and refuse to understand that some situations calls for humility. A five year freeze would be devastating to those like us who have been interested for awhile, but it would be beneficial to those who still do not get the meaning of the history of the founding of these organizations. To provide brotherhood amongst young black men on Cornell's majority white campus in 1906. To provide sisterhood and an outlet for service to mankind amongst the young women of Howard's campus in 1908.
Do we truly understand the meaning of these organizations? How will we who are interested go forward without the opportunity to join our prospective organization of interest. I know this is long too. Much Respect to you Sisterfriend, Lastpoet as well.
