I just had mine removed earlier this week and I had the same problem, impacted teeth. Basically, you will go to the hospital, get your IV, and they will wheel you into the operating room. As soon as they started with the gas, I was gone. The surgery lasts about 2 hours. My pain was minimal with the help of a lil Oxycodone....LOL.....
As far as after surgery, I would say to use a lot of ice and stick with the jello, applesauce, and ginger ale.
