If you pref a sorority, you are on their bid list. The thing is, you could be very high on their bid list (thus getting a bid), or very low on their bid list (thus not getting a bid).
It all depends on who above you recieves/prefs the sorority #1. For example, if quota is 50, and you are number 60 on the bid list - then roughly 10 other girls would have to pref someone else first and then that sorority has them high on their bid list so they get a bid form somewhere else.
When a girl goes somewhere else, that pulls you up on the list. So no, you aren't gaurenteed a bid from a sorority you pref. Everything is out of your hands and their hands once they turn in their list and you turn in your pref card. It's left up to the computer or whoever is doing the matching to put everyone in their right place.
