I've never been to Southern Ohio OR Southern Indiana, but I call Mr. Munch "the boy," as do many of my East Coast friends. He's been pretty much entrenched as my boyfriend for over three years now, so there's no vagueness there. For me, it comes from having a roomie I wanted to slap--because she talked about her boyfriend ALL THE TIME (they were a pretty new couple and entrenched in the honeymoon stage). I think she liked the sound of the words "my boyfriend," and used them all the time.
Okay, that was a total hijack. Sorry.
