I've had a couple of minor problems with Amazon, but their customer service was pretty good. The trick is to call them rather than emailing.
If you don't already have Amazon's customer service number, here it is: 1-800-201-7575. It's well hidden on their website. Give it a try - it's a lot harder to ignore a customer on the other end of a phone call than it is to ignore an email.
