My $0.02...

In my pledge meetings last fall, we always started off with some kind of ice-breaker that made you get up and move around. Yeah, they're corny. But they can also be loads of fun, and a great way to learn little tidbits about your pledge sisters.

Also, we would have a chapter to read each week from our new member manual which discussed Phi Mu's history, philanthropy, organizational structure, etc, etc. Every few weeks we'd count off and form different groups of three or four, who would then meet somewhere on campus during that week to read together and go over the creed, important facts, and so forth. It was always up to the group to decide time and place. This was also a really good way to bone up on your information outside of pledge meetings, as well as a way to spend some time with your pledge sisters outside of regularly scheduled activities.
