Whites definitely have that advantage over African-Americans. It's not what you know; it's who you know.
That's simplifying things but it¡¯s true to an extent. I had to train this young, white guy (my age) on the co.¡¯s computer applications. He was clueless, in general. It was so aggravating to hear about this guy¡¯s drinking binges and how he never went to class. Yet he had secured an internship at my company. He was trying to secure a managerial position. Long story short, he got the hook up and I was hating.
Chris Rock in Bigger and Blacker made a joke about how ¡Ö 80% of the audience got their current job because they were recommended by a friend. THAT¡¯S WHAT¡¯S UP!
