The other problem is that most people do not acquire someone's information from a lost purse/wallet or something like that. These criminals are using the internet and other Hi-Tech means. We are talking top notch computer equipment and printing equpiment.

Damasa, you're absolutely right. This is exactly what happened to me. I saw with my own eyes the evidence that was collected: blank checks and a check-printing software program from an office supply store, scanners, laminators.......again, with this much effort she'd have done really well in a LEGAL job!
What's worse is protecting your info from being distributed on the internet for the picking. Check out what's for sale at
www.publicdata.com. (Especially if you're from Texas). From what I understand there is a loophole in the Public Information Act that allows the sale/distribution of DPS info. It's like an ID theft supermarket.
