I know this is verboten with my group, and I know of at least one NPHC group with a similar directive. Is it seen as disrespecting the pin, because there are alternatives to wearing your badge if you want to advertise your affiliation (ie, a button)?
Yes there are specific directives for appropiate "badge attire"...

And if she was inappropriately wearing it and none of my sorors checked her on it, then she probably is a "SKATER" or a "perpatraitor" anyways

We do have "patches" that one can sew on clothing that look like our badges--I would hope you aren't talking about our formal jewelry? Say it ain't so... Oh well. There is always a dissenter in the midst...

As my Sorors have stated there are directives on when to and when NOT TO wear the badge, I would not give so much detail but yes we have rules/laws in place. My question to you as AKA_Monet mentioned is are you sure it was our official badge, I have had a regional director as me about a badge I had on which was not real ... it was not real because I refuse to wear mine until I get a guard any how I say all this to say there are imitations.
