Hey dddgirly! Welcome to the board! What school do you go to?
From everything I've heard from people, Tri Delta chapters are pretty strong all over the country. Up here in Wisconsin we are known as fun, down-to-earth girls, and very diverse -- we have everything from the beauty queens to the partiers to the athletes to the the future lawyers and doctors. There are some sororities on campus where you can spot a girl walking down the street and immediately identify her as an ABC, but you definitely can't do that with the Tri Delts because there are so many different types of us! The fraternities like us a lot. Unfortunately, at Wisconsin there is a lot of rivalry between sororities, but our newest pledge classes are trying to change that since we all have friends in different sororities.
To decrease tension between sororities, we send each other cards and notes all the time -- to wish them good luck with recruitment, to congratulate them on their new pledge class, to say Happy Holidays. I've also heard of sororities inviting other sororities to do social activities with them -- like asking the Kappas to do makeovers or something. We did a self-defense workshop with Pi Phi this spring. You could also pair up with a sorority to do a double mixer (two sororities, two fraternities) or a double fundraiser. Kappa and Pi Phi do a double basketball tournament for charity together here, and I know that at the University of Texas, Tri Delta and Kappa Alpha Theta have a formal together that they call the Twinstar Formal (Theta uses stars on their badge and so do we, so that's where the name comes from).
