I've actually noticed this too . . I think it's mostly because a lot of GLO names stand for something in Greek, and really, can there be that many words that start with Xi or Eta or Upsilon?

I also think that Alpha is used a lot because of its significance of being the first in the alphabet.

There are a ton of NPC organizations (over a third of the NPC, I think) that have Alpha as their first letter.
