Expansion is a HUGE process.
KD's colonization process isn't long- basically the length of the new member period.
This past year, we colonized at Arizona State University, University of the South (Sewannee, TN), and Wright State University (in Ohio).
We have a lot on slate for next year, with at least one confirmed colony starting at the University of North Florida.
It's not as easy as a bunch of alumnae picking a school, and saying "hey, let's start a KD chapter here". The way it usually happens is one of the following: 1) an established Greek system is getting large, and wants to bring in another house, 2) a local sorority wants to go national, 3) a campus is forcing all of its local sororities to go national
There's a huge long process that has to be gone through-national officers make presentations, alumnae do get involved, etc. Check out some of the threads in the Rush forum, especially those of WishinHoping- great stories that REALLY outline the process.
I'd love more chapters in New England. It's not an area that's strong for KD. It's also not an area where Greek life is predominant- there are many schools without greek systems at all.
Hope this helps! Definately check out some of the other threads, you can really learn a lot on GC.
