hey leslieAGD,
i'm from stratford, ontario, home of the stratford festival. it's completely safe here. no worries. it's a shame that SARS and Mad Cow are affecting people's decisions whether or not to visit canada.
the media always blows everything out of proportion, i also have been to t.o. since the SARS outbreak and didn't see anyone with a mask on. (and i was right downtown).
hey tomearp, come visit me and RACooper. we both are greeks from u of t. in fact racooper's sister is one of MY sister's!!

In other words, don't let things like this make you stop living your life.

I think that's a bit exagerated. There's a different between a contagious disease and acts of violence/terrorism.

Not when you gauge the reactions of some folks in this thread. No matter how many times people say that the chances of getting SARS are very slim, folks are acting like they're taking their own lives into their own hands just by travelling to Toronto. It just seems a bit silly to me. *shrug*

I personally think that is blown way out of proportion.... come on close to 4 mil in the Toronto area and yet how many people have gotten it or died? More people are killed by bee stings each summer here in Toronto. In fact I love this hysteria.... super cheap specials for hotels, Jays tickets, meals.... there's no major crowds in Chinatown, so great foods always there and the staff is happy for your business
Personally I'm more worried about West Nile Virus

I probably won't be heading to Toronto anytime soon due to the fact that it is a little bit far for me but I will be in Windsor this Friday for a bachelorette party.

Toronto is one city in Canada, it's not the entire country (which is enormous, BTW).
I don't know, asking this question is like asking, "Would you travel to the USA? You might be shot or mugged."
Whatever..........

i love canada =) my friends and i took a road trip up there last summer! a road trip from WAY down South, i might add. anyway, regarding current conditions in toronto - i hope everything works itself out soon! my cousin is getting married in new orleans this saturday, but the groom is still up in his home town of toronto! we just hope they don't start making any too-crazy regulations about crossing the border, because he's got a lovely bride waiting for him. and, just to point out something interesting, not only have both the bride and groom been living in toronto, but the bride's brother has been in china for almost 6 months! he got back recently. man, that reception will just be a SARS breeding ground...but i hope not
edited to add other great things about canada: you can get great cadbury candy there that you can't get in the U.S - music from Canadian musicians that you can't buy here (like old Matthew Good Band!) - and their bowling shoes are way cooler than ours. not that any of this has to do with the REAL topic, but i think it is important to add

No, it isn't.
If you said, "Would you travel to Toronto?", then I can understand the debate.
But you didn't. Instead, you asked, "Would you travel to CANADA?"
Look at a map, please.....places like Vancouver are way far away from Toronto (where the SARS is) and are still Canada. Vancouver is 5 1/2 hours away from Toronto on an airplane, which is basically a transcontinental flight (yes, we do have airplanes in Canada
