sigmadahlin' - The Alpha Xi chapter on my campus does the opposite. Each pledge buys a teacup and saucer, it is displayed for their four years in a beautiful china cabinet in their chapter room. (I guess when they graduate they store them?) But when they get married, the chapter presents them with their teacup they bought way back when.
