That's exactly why I learned how to swim. I almost drowned (in the shallow end of the pool no less), when I was in elementary school. I remember it vividly...picture it...New York, 1986. It was summertime and all of my cousins and myself were at the pool. Somehow I ended up falling in the water and I remember that my mouth wasn't shut and I inhaled a whole bunch of water. I remember kicking and stuff and I went to the bottom (prolly wasn't too far), and finally I just started paddling and kicking with at purpose and came back to the top. I remember once all the water got out of my eyes and I caught my breath while holding onto the side...all of my cousins were lined up on the side of the pool looking in the water like ...those MOFOs didn't even try to go get help!!! Some family...
