Video rumored to show Bush daughter naked
Knight Ridder Newspapers
Apr. 29, 2003 04:25 PM

Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt is hunting for a videotape rumored to show first daughter Barbara Bush in the nude, reports the New York Post.

Flynt's cohorts are scouring the New Haven, Conn., campus of Yale University, where Barbara, 21, is a student, in hopes of buying a video supposedly made at one of Yale's notorious "naked parties."

"We definitely have heard the story and we definitely have a rep over there," Flynt told The Post, "but so far we have not been able to substantiate anything - yet. But usually where there's smoke, there's fire, so we're still looking."

A source says Barbara has attended plenty of the bare-all bacchanals, a Yale tradition in which overworked Ivy Leaguers relieve stress by doffing their duds and drinking some suds. The footage in question was allegedly taken at a naked party several months ago, and Flynt's foot soldiers have been in talks with a student who says he is friends with the guy who has the tape.

"Flynt offered the person $1 million," says the source. "But he doesn't have it - he says his friend does. So it's kind of in limbo."

HONOLULU, Hawaii (Reuters) -- A young woman who wanted to leave a cruise ship to return to her boyfriend in California spent Monday night in a federal detention center here, charged with threatening to kill everyone aboard the ship to cut the cruise short, authorities said.

Kelley Marie Ferguson, 20, made an initial appearance in federal court Monday to hear the charges, according to Edward Kubo Jr., U.S. Attorney for the District of Hawaii. A detention hearing is scheduled for May 1.

Ferguson of Laguna Hills in Orange County, who was traveling with family members on Royal Caribbean's "Legend of the Seas," was charged with two counts of threatening acts of terrorism, Kubo said. Each count carries a maximum prison term of 10 years.

The cruise ship was on a 10-day trip out of Ensenada, Mexico, when crew members found two handwritten notes on April 22 and 23, according to the charges. Both notes stated that if the ship docked in a U.S. port, the nearly 2,400 passengers and crew would all die.

After the second note was found, authorities diverted the ship to Oahu waters and a 120-member task force of federal, state and military personnel searched the ship and interviewed people on board.

The ship was searched for biological, chemical, radiological and explosive weapons, but nothing was found and the ship's cruise resumed on April 24. But Ferguson confessed the following day during an interview, Kubo said.

"The defendant said that she never wanted to go on this cruise with her family and that she wrote these notes hoping that it would shorten her time on the cruise, thereby allowing her to rejoin her boyfriend in Orange County, California," Kubo said.

Kubo said the incident frightened many aboard the cruise ship, but when he briefed reporters, he was more upset by the defendant's reaction.

"I find it very disturbing that after causing all this fear, excitement and concern, the defendant never showed any degree of regret or remorse for her actions, not even after her arrest," Kubo said.

"We do not consider such threats to be jokes. If you commit such an act and disrupt lives, we will use all of our resources to investigate and prosecute you."

Wow, if I was her man I think I'd dump her because she's psycho...although that may not be a good idea because she might come after me

I was thinking the same thing! Was he supposed to be impressed by this? I cannot believe this chic did not want to be on the cruise with her family. I would have Gladly gone in her place.

Climber amputates his arm, climbs to safety

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Central/0....ap/index.html
MOAB, Utah (AP) -- A Colorado climber amputated his own arm Thursday, five days after becoming pinned by a boulder, and he was hiking to safety when he was spotted by searchers, authorities said.

Aron Ralston, 27, of Aspen, was in serious condition late Thursday at a hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Ralston was climbing Saturday in Blue John Canyon, adjacent to Canyonlands National Park in far southwestern Utah, when a 200-pound boulder fell on him, pinning his right arm, authorities said.

He ran out of water on Tuesday and on Thursday morning, he decided that his survival required drastic action.

Using his pocketknife, he amputated his arm below the elbow and applied a tourniquet and administered first aid.

He then rigged anchors, fixed a rope and rappelled to the canyon floor.

He hiked downstream and was spotted about 3 p.m. by a Utah Public Safety Helicopter. The search for Ralston had begun the same morning, after authorities were notified he was four days overdue reporting for work.

Ralston was described by authorities as an avid outdoorsman in exceptional physical condition. They said he was known to have climbed 49 of Colorado's major peaks.

Wife Won't Cook Dinner, Husband Calls Police

LONDON (Reuters) - An angry British husband made an emergency call to police -- because his wife refused to cook him his dinner.
The man dialed "999" in a fury, demanding help from officers because his wife was busy decorating, Avon and Somerset police in western England said on Thursday.

The plea was one of a number of genuine calls made by the public to police which the force published on its Web Site to highlight abuse of the emergency number.

"My wife's left me with two salmon sandwiches which was left over from last night, and I'm sat in the chair here and she's out there decorating," the man told the police operator.

"She won't put any food on or anything for anybody."

The operator is then heard interrupting him saying: "I'm sorry but I really can't take this. It's not an emergency because your wife won't give you anything to eat."

BOWLING GREEN, Kentucky (AP) -- A student pulled from a dormitory fire early Sunday had what appeared to be stab wounds, and arson investigators were trying to determine if the blaze was set, the state fire marshal's office said.

"Apparently this is a crime scene," said Ken Meredith, a spokesman for the fire marshal's office. "There is a young woman suffering from stab wounds, and it appears that the fire was set deliberately."

Bob Skipper, a spokesman for Western Kentucky University, said the fire seems "suspicious right now."

The victim, whose identity wasn't released, was in critical condition with extensive burns and other wounds at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, about 60 miles south of Bowling Green, he said.

"We are aware that there are other wounds, but at this point we don't know what caused them or how they are related to all of this," Skipper said. He said authorities had talked to the victim's roommate, who wasn't home at the time of the fire.

A Kentucky State Police arson investigator was at the dormitory Sunday afternoon.

About 50 people were in Hugh Poland Hall when the fire started shortly after 4 a.m. in a room on the second floor, Skipper said.

The fire was confined to one room in the nine-story dorm, which houses about 300 students, and it was put out by the dormitory's sprinkler system, he said. All those who had been inside the dorm had been accounted for Sunday morning.

Andrea Pendleton, a freshman from Lexington, Kentucky, who lives in the dorm, said she saw two firefighters carry the burned student out by her arms and legs.

"All of her clothes were burned off," Pendleton said. She said Emergency officials treated the victim for about 15 minutes before taking her away in an ambulance.

In the dormitory, there was smoke and water damage throughout the second floor, but students who live on the other floors were being allowed to retrieve personal items Sunday afternoon, Skipper said.

The university is just wrapping up its spring session, with final exams scheduled this week.

Students milling around the dorm Sunday said it was the second fire in the dorm this semester. No injuries or evacuations occurred in the first fire, students said.

Stabbed Woman rescued from Dorm Fire

Stabbed Woman Rescued From College Dorm Fire
Victim Listed In Critical Condition
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- A female student suffering from extensive burns is in critical condition after a dormitory fire at Western Kentucky University early Sunday.

The fire is being investigated as foul play, according to a spokesman for the Kentucky State Fire Marshal's office.

The young woman, whose name was not released, is suffering from stab wounds, and it appears that the fire was set deliberately, the spokesman said.

The student is being treated at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., -- which is about 60 miles south of Bowling Green.

The fire occurred shortly after 4:10 a.m. CDT on the second floor of Hugh Poland Hall. It was extinguished by the dormitory's sprinkler system.

About 50 of the 310 students were in the nine-story building at the time of the fire. The students have either left campus or have moved into other dormitories.

University spokesman Bob Skipper said he was aware that the victim had stab wounds, but did not know the cause of the wounds.

First-Ever Nude Flight Departs From Miami
Owners Says Flight Is Not Mile High Club
Posted: 10:57 a.m. EDT May 4, 2003
Updated: 11:39 a.m. EDT May 4, 2003

MIAMI -- When this flight reaches cruising altitude, passengers take off more than their seat belts. They get naked.

What organizers billed as the first nude flight ever took off Saturday from Miami for Cancun. Once the fasten-seatbelt light went off, so did the clothes of 87 passengers.

A Texas travel agency specializing in clothing-optional getaways organized the trip on a chartered Boeing 727. It costs about $500.

There are limits though. The captain and crew keep their clothes on. No hot coffee or tea. And no hanky-panky.

Donna Daniels is co-owner of the Houston-based Castaways travel agency. She says this is not the Mile High Club.
