Being from the south, I always liked them mainly cuz I thought their name, "Dixie Chicks", was so cute and catchy. However, this might have contributed to much of the backlash, considering much of Bush's support is from the south, and especially from Texas.

In the short run, their PR blitz might buy them some relief, but long term, the fan base that should be their most loyal won't be so forgiving.

Last night I watched Jay Leno when his entire audience were members of the navy, army, marines, and air force. When he mentioned the Dixie Chicks they all booed and jeered. This lets you that they feel strongly about what was said.
