hi mel-
that is so wonderful! I wish you the best of luck. Here are some thoughts:

- Isn't A&M-Galveston a graduate school only? with that in mind, realize that not many (if any) of the NPC groups will extend a charter or colonize without the traditional undergraduate Greek infrastructure in place. I believe that NPHC groups DO have alumnae chapters or metro chapters? maybe a sister of an NPHC org. can help here...

- Is there a Student Life or Greek Life body there? if so, you should talk to them - they are sure to have lots of resources and suggestions.

- Think about your resources up the road. Maybe the Greek Life office at TAMU-College Station can help, or maybe one of the national or local sororities at Univ. of Houston or Houston Baptist University can offer some input. If you colonized as one of those groups, they could come down and assist with your founding, rush procedures, etc.!

- Just because you might not be able to be a national chapter doesn't mean that you can't still create a wonderful club with long-standing traditions and true sisterhood. Think about how cool it will be to charter the first sorority on the campus, no matter what kind it is.

You should sit down with your interest group and decide how you feel about all the different aspects of sorority life, and develop a plan for how you want your club to be.

Where is localsororities? I bet she has TONS of great suggestions.
